WYTZ (Chicago’s Hot 94-7) – 10/91 – Danny Wright, Bubba the Love Sponge

Chicago’s Hot 94-7 FM represented the high-energy, but short-lived aftermath of “Hell 94.7″, and the final (as of this writing) attempt of this frequency to compete with heritage Rhythmic CHR WBBM-FM (B96). This particular aircheck – recorded sometime this month, 22 years ago – is a sample of the station in its twilight. It features a commercial promoting a club appearance of “Hot 94-7’s hippest homie, Bubba the Love Sponge” (who, according to this page, hosted mornings for about 3 months before management decided to make the station a simulcast of heritage news/talk WLS-AM.) Bubba stated that he would be “hosting the dopest Halloween party ever.”
