104 FM Select – Hong Kong – 1/10/98

Most of the material posted on FMairchecks.com is of U.S. origin, but from time to time we will feature airchecks from abroad. Recorded nearly 17 years ago, this is a sample of  bilingual “104 FM Select” from Hong Kong during primarily Saturday night mixshow programming (titled “Ultra Mix Live”). As the logo above implies, the station was heard on a variety of frequencies ranging from 102.4 to 106.3 FM. The labeling of the cassette housing this aircheck indicates that it was recorded from 104.0 FM. Amusingly, as heard toward the beginning of this montage, the station seemed to favor playing obscure remakes of songs whose original versions where on the pop charts in the U.S. at the time.
