Most of the material posted on FMairchecks.com is of U.S. origin, but from time to time we will feature airchecks from abroad. Recorded 16 years ago this month, this is a late night sample of bilingual “104 FM Select” from Hong Kong. As the logo above implies, the station was heard on a variety of frequencies ranging from 102.4 to 106.3 FM. The labeling of the cassette housing this aircheck indicates that it was recorded from 104.0 FM.
A couple of noteworthy observations:
- This montage includes snippets of what appears to be a concert version of Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mack” that I’ve personally never heard before.
- Amusingly, it appears that at least one song (Bobby Brown’s “Don’t Be Cruel”) was paused in the midst of airplay in favor of commercials.
