In 1986, 94.7 WLS-FM in Chicago changed its call letters to WYTZ and began referring to itself as “Z95”. This new approach, along with a long list of personnel changes, made the station became a serious competitor to the market’s heritage CHR, WBBM-FM (B96). This is a brief sample of Z95 from October of that year (recorded 29 years ago this month).

Z-95 was the best station on the planet! I was lucky enough to be living in Downers Grove during the time of this aircheck! Heck, I was probably even listening at this time! Thanks for the memories!
WYTZZ95FM
Another one I recorded! Again, a terrible Certron or Tapemaster brand (Walgreens) tape that sounded horrible the second it was recorded. I digitized it long time ago and I am afraid if I play the tape, it will break! Peter B was a great jock. I used to call him in the studio. Totally nice guy at the time. Still is a nice guy, he is now retired from radio and Fr Peter Bucalo, ordained Pastor!
